Quality Bakers Dunedin - May 2017

We worked with Easyway Dunedin on an initiative to help our people become non-smokers. The company subsidised a programme that saw Easyway deliver a five hour group session at our site, which was attended by 15 employees.

The results from the session are very impressive with a 93% success rate of the employees who attended the Easyway session. This means our site has increased the number of non-smokers from 66% of total employees to 89%.

Some of the employees who are now non-smokers include one employee that had been smoking for 35 years, and didn’t think they could ever give up, and another employee who had tried everything possible to kick the habit but nothing had worked for them.

The course also proved a great confidence builder for our employees, with the team feeling like that have really achieved something special and feel very proud of. There’s also the added benefit of having more money in their pockets at the end of the week, which is great.

The results of improved health and wellbeing for our employees is priceless. For me, the site and my staff, this has shown huge benefits and I would encourage others to take up the challenge.
